Unless you have a dental emergency that requires immediate attention, a comprehensive dental examination is done during the initial visit. After speaking with you and reviewing your medical and dental history, Dr. Su will perform a comprehensive examination which will include the detection of dental caries risk (cavities), periodontal charting (gum evaluation) and oral cancer screening.

Periodontal Treatment

Computerized Periodontal Charting

All new patients will have their periodontal health evaluated through periodontal probing, by measuring the distance between the gum line and the supporting bone surrounding each tooth. This is to detect the presence of periodontal disease (commonly called gum disease), an inflammatory disease caused by bacteria in the mouth that can contribute to bleeding gums, bad breath, and tooth loss. Additionally, latest medical research has shown that periodontal disease can cause heart disease, diabetes, and other systemic disease by triggering inflammation throughout the body. This makes the prevention and treatment of periodontal disease a sure way to prevent these serious diseases! All exam information is stored in each patient's file in the computer system.

Periodontal Scaling and Root Planing

When periodontal disease is detected, it is recommended to treat it with periodontal scaling and root planing, also known as deep cleaning. This is a non-invasive procedure during which teeth are thoroughly cleaned with a Cavitron (ultrasonic scaler) and hand instruments under local anesthesia to remove the calculus (tartar) buildup which contains the bacteria that causes gum disease. The treatment aims to also reduce the inflammation of the gum tissues and restores the health of the gum.

Adjunct Non-Surgical Periodontal Treatment

In case of aggressive types of periodontal disease, antibiotics and antimicrobial rinses may be used in conjunction with scaling and root planing to control the growth of bacteria.

White Fillings

Resin composite fillings are more conservative and esthetic than the traditional silver amalgam fillings, and cause less sensitivity because they do not conduct cold or heat as much as metals do.

Natural-looking Crowns, Onlays, Inlays, and Bridges

With the advance of technology come esthetic materials such as lithium discilicate and Zirconia that are so lifelike that even dental professionals have a hard time telling them apart from real teeth. No longer do we have to suffer metal or grayish edges around the gum line.

Full and Partial Dentures

Many people complain about their dentures being loose, heavy, or being ill-fitting in general. Modern technology offers solutions. Loose dentures can be retained tightly on implants. Teeth-Whitening

Yes, it works! For 30 minutes a day over two weeks, our take-home custom whitening system can increase and maintain the brilliance of your smile. * Existing dental restorations such as crowns and white fillings cannot be whitened, therefore it is advisable to whiten your teeth before placing crowns and fillings for best results. Tetracyclin staining may take longer to whiten.

Endodontic Treatment

Modern root canal treatment is done with magnification, canal apex locator, rotary instruments, even cone-beam CT to shorten the treatment duration, increase safety and success rate, and guarantee patient comfort. When a tooth is hurting or severely decayed, a root canal treatment is often the only way to save it.

Implant Services

Dental implants are one of the best ways of restoring missing teeth. Dental implants provide anchors in the jaw bone on which we can build new teeth. We work with experienced surgeons and gum specialists in the area to have dental implants placed for the patients in their offices. After the implants have been successfully integrated, patients can return to our office to have crowns or bridges made for the implants.

Impeccable Sterilization Center

We adhere to OSHA guidline strictly. Each instrument is washed, disinfected in a germicidal solution with an ultrasonic cleaner, wrapped, then heat sterilized. Each instrument pouch contains an internal monitor to assure that steam penetrates into the pouch to sterilize the instruments and a spore test is conducted weekly to guarantee that the autoclave functions properly.

Computerized Charting System

It records the condition of the teeth and gum in a computer hard drive.

Cavitron

A Cavitron is an ultrasonic instrument that generates a gentle vibration to allow the effective removal of plaque and calculus (tartar) from teeth. This method of cleaning was invented in the 1970s and has continually improved over time. It is comfortable and effective. Research shows that the combined use of ultrasonic scaling and hand scaling results in cleaner teeth in a shorter length of time than either method alone.

Endodontic Rotary Instrument

These are ultra-flexible nickel titanium files that can thoroughly and effectively clean and debride the inside of root canals, increasing patient comfort and treatment success.

Apex Locator

It electronically locates the end of a root canal and makes root canal treatment safer, faster, and more comfortable for the patient.
